Evaluation Of Pre-Production Documents

Image
Why is it important to evaluate pre-production documents? By evaluating the effectiveness of a pre-production document it can ensure that the final version is up to the production teams standards. If the documents don't get checked then major planning issues may arise. How to evaluate? Things that must be considered: Suitability of the content -> Must meet the brief and must be useful in aiding the production team when producing the product Suitability of content for the target audience What should be used: Positive language Consideration for the original designer & creator Specific feedback on any suggested improvement - justifying why it would make the document better Evaluating Documents: This sketch has a clear and easy to understand design. It is also to-scale and includes drawings of people enabling the viewer to see the size comparison of the set. This schedule has minor spelling mistakes, doesn't include dates and p...

Concept art, Visualisation Diagrams, Flash Plans, Prototypes & Mock Ups

Concept Art It is form of visualisation that does not have a storyline, however, portrays a message.  It's important because it helps the viewer feel emotions and understand concepts through the form of art that may be ambiguous and open to interpretation. Visualisation Diagrams It is a detailed drawing of something that is going to be potentially used in a project. The quality of the drawing is not important as it goes through multiple variations and developments before it becomes a final product/project. It is important as it informs the viewer what the potential 'thing' can do/ will look like. It is useful for companies to work on an idea together and gives a starting point for a project/product. Flat Plans  A plan of the content for print media, such as newspapers & magazines. It runs as a basic template that then gets changed each week or so. It is important as it enables the editor to see what is going into the print media & where its going in...

What is a SWOT analysis?

A SWOT analysis is a way of analysing multiple factors of a business. 'SWOT' stands for strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats.  The factors are: S - Strengths - What is a good thing about the business? What keeps it thriving and successful? W - Weaknesses - What is causing the business to fail? O - Opportunities - What could potentially improve the business? T - Threats - What is the business having to compete with or maintain? If a company is creating a SWOT analysis, it can be useful for deciding where to focus your market strategies and even expanding or starting a media company.   A SWOT analysis can also provide an action plan for a business, making the 'strengths' and 'weaknesses' the most important part of the analysis.

Project Management

Image
Definition: Project management is the role of ensuring that all aspects of a given production run smoothly by overseeing a number of people/departments. The project manager would ensure that deadlines are met and the brief is followed by liaising with others and holding them to account. Planning requires an outline of tasks, deadlines & milestones that are needed to manage the project efficiently. A project timeline schedule would be created for the creation of the media project. It would have to include:  1) Tasks that need to be completed. 2) Deadlines for each tasks. 3) Milestones within the tasks and the overall project.  Types of project timeline tools: - Excel production schedule: - To do lists - Workflow tool - split by team members so that it is clear who is doing what & when -> Everybody can see it - can keep track of each other. The Gantt Chart: - Designed by a mechanical engineer named Henry Gantt in 1...

Perfected Test Answers (Unit 2)

Unit 2 — Pre-production & planning skills LO1 Test Identify two costs that you may need to consider when developing a new phone app and explain how these costs impact on the project. (6 marks) One cost could include hiring staff to develop & create the app (i.e. a graphic designer). Staff would be expected to be paid at an hourly rate. If the creators of the product don't already hold the knowledge necessary for making an app then they would have to hire staff such as a graphic designer. This would impact the project as hiring such staff can be relatively expensive and affect their budget. Another cost could include copyrighting the name of the app, ensuring no one else can use it. This would result in a positive impact on the project as it means no one else can steal the app’s name. However, copywriting can be a lengthy and time consuming process, this can lead to the project being prolonged and delayed . Identify one act of legislation that is applicable ...

Bluewater Website (info from: https://bluewater.co.uk/#k828efyfP6PQiyTO.97 ) Who is it for? Due to the websites seasonal events and variety of stores and restaurants appealing to both children, adults and teenagers, the website looks like its target audience is typically adults with families and young adults/teenagers. The website promotes multiple Christmas events such as Santa’s Grotto, iceskating and a post box to Father Christmas, all of which appeal to parents with children. The website also advertises a John Lewis beauty event and the latest range of Vans trainers, both of which would typically appeal to teenagers and young adults. Despite being for families, the website is not suited for children due to its sophisticated layout. It is designed to attract adults who have children but not necessarily the children themselves.     The first images that the viewer is greeted by (on the website) are of smiling children, teenagers and adults.
