What is a SWOT analysis?

A SWOT analysis is a way of analysing multiple factors of a business. 'SWOT' stands for strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats.
The factors are:
S - Strengths - What is a good thing about the business? What keeps it thriving and successful?
W - Weaknesses - What is causing the business to fail?
O - Opportunities - What could potentially improve the business?
T - Threats - What is the business having to compete with or maintain?

If a company is creating a SWOT analysis, it can be useful for deciding where to focus your market strategies and even expanding or starting a media company.
A SWOT analysis can also provide an action plan for a business, making the 'strengths' and 'weaknesses' the most important part of the analysis.
